Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales – formerly known as WEA YMCA CC Cymru – has announced that it’s set to expand its level 3 learning offer widening access and providing greater opportunity for adult learning throughout Gwynedd.
Kathryn Robson, Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales Deputy Chief Executive, said, “We are relocating the Social Studies (Access to Nursing) provision to other parts of Gwynedd, where expansion will see us delivering our Level 3 courses in a community venue. This in turn will offer flexibility whilst enabling us to be mobile and responsive, giving greater opportunity for more learners to engage in Level 3 provision, and access university places in the future.”
The positive announcement is tempered however by the news that it brings to an end learning provision at the former Coleg Harlech, Wern Fawr site.
The Deputy Chief Executive noted, “We recognise the significance of this change, and we will continue discussing and working with the community to help ensure that our delivery of adult learning provision remains very much in the Coleg Harlech tradition and reflects the local needs.”
Options for a sustainable, long-term future for the Wern Fawr site continue to be explored, while support from the Arts Council of Wales, Gwynedd Council and Harlech in Action maintains a commitment to the theatre to retain the community service.
Current level 3 learning arrangements are set to continue for the remainder of the academic year, with the introduction of the expanded provision planned to commence from September 2017. Talks with Addysg Oedolion Cymru | Adult Learning Wales staff are to take place this week.
